The Golden Temple in Amritsar



The Golden Temple, located in the city of Amritsar in the state of Punjab,is a place of great beauty and sublime peacefulness. Originally a small lake in the midst of a quiet forest, the site has been a meditation retreat for wandering mendicants and sages since deep antiquity. The Buddha is known to have spent time at this place in contemplation.Two thousand years after Buddha's time, another philosopher-saint came to live and meditate by the peaceful lake. This was Guru Nanak (1469-1539), the founder of the Sikh religion.

Devi Talab Mandir in Jalandhar

 
 
The famous Devi Talab Temple is situated in the heart of Jalandhar city, just 1 km from the railway station. It is believed to be more than 200 years old. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga and is one of the 51 Shakthi pithas in India. The image of Lord Shiva that is enshrined herein is called Bhisan Bhairav. Devi Talab Temple has been renovated recently and a number of changes have been made to the old structure. Also, a new temple has been constructed within the temple premises. Even a model of Amarnath Yatra was constructed sometime back only.

Jain Glass Temple in Kanpur


Built in beautiful architecture, Jain Glass Temple is a key attraction of Kanpur city.  The temple also holds much religious significance among Jain people. Completely built of glass, the temple fascinates the visitors by its impressive look. Walls, ceilings and pillars are beautifully adorned with enamel and glass. Amazing mural paintings done on the stained glass depicts the incidences from Jain scriptures. Along with the statue of Lord Mahavir, the temple also houses 23 statues of other Jain Tirthankaras.
